What we collect, why we need it, and what stays yours.
Draft. Canopay is in private beta and this document is still being reviewed by counsel. It will be finalised before general availability. Last updated October 28, 2026.
01 What this covers
This policy explains what personal information Canopay Technologies Inc. collects, why, and what you can do about it. It applies to the Canopay apps, this website and our support channels.
02 What we collect
Identity details we're required to verify: your name, date of birth, address and a government ID.
Account details: your handle, email, phone number, devices and the accounts and storefronts you create.
Transaction details: who you pay and are paid by, amounts, times and any notes you attach.
03 How we use it
To run your accounts, to keep payments secure, to meet our obligations under Canadian anti-money-laundering law, and to give you the insights in your own account.
We don't sell personal information, and we don't use your transaction history to advertise to you.
05 Where it's stored
Your information is stored in Canada and protected in transit and at rest. Access inside Canopay is limited to people who need it for their role, and is logged.
06 How long we keep it
We keep identity and transaction records for as long as the law requires after an account is closed, usually five years, and delete or anonymise them after that.
07 Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your personal information, ask us to correct it, or withdraw consent where that doesn't conflict with a legal obligation. You can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
08 Contact
